Don't choose the tense just because you see a time expression.

Specific completed past event → Past Simple
Experience / connection with now → Present Perfect

I went to London last year.
I have been to London three times.

USED TO + base verb
→ past habit
I used to go hiking.

BE / GET USED TO + -ing
→ be / become accustomed to
I'm used to travelling alone.

SHOULD HAVE + past participle

❌ I should have go
✅ I should have gone

THIRD CONDITIONAL

If + had + past participle → would have + past participle
